Somethings I’ve found

You know how a while back I posted a little bit about personal information aggregation?
Well less creepy than “personas” , I’ve found a couple other interesting uses of our private information. BTW, Though people tend to claim a permanence to the personal info on the internet, my previous life has become harder and harder to find through regular search techniques as time has marched on. I assume it is just buried deeper and deeper on some server somewhere, but it makes me hopeful that a fresh start is still possible in this technological age.

Anyway…

on with the show.

Wordle let’s you custom design a word cloud based on a random sampling from any URL or RSS feed.

Wired Magazine also did an article a while back about some data-based fine artists that is worth taking a look at. The article showcases many artists that are bringing our cloud-like, computer-based lives into the real world.

And then the is artist Ben Rubin who created the cloud-based instillation “Moveable Type” for the lobby of the New York Times.

Finally, check out the video for “eCloud”, a weather and atmospheric data-based sculpture. This instillation blends three things I love: architecture, technology and art not to mention subtly telling me to pull out the umbrella when leaving the airport.

The eCloud is a dynamic "cloud" sculpture reflecting collected weather data from the area..

So, Yeah for using information to beautify our world!!
Later, art-peepz
